Investment firm signs agreement with developer

HANFORD – A massive solar power proposal in western Kings County has picked up a key financial supporter.

CIM Group, a real estate investment firm with approximately $15.8 billion in assets, has signed an agreement with Visalia-based Westside holdings LLC to develop Westlands Solar Park in the part of the county bounded by the county line to the west, Highway 198 to the north, Highway 41 to the east and Interstate 5 to the south.

The proposed 24,000-acre solar power project would be the largest in California. It would dwarf any other solar proposal for Kings County. The next biggest is a 1,428-acre project west of Lemoore.
